The American Express Garden

The rebuilding of Allianz Stadium has delivered new public open space, artwork and facilities to the Sydney Cricket Ground precinct. The new venue is the third neighbour stadium to the SCG, which was established in the 1850s by troops from nearby Victoria Barracks.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The Sydney Sports Ground was opened in 1903 and operated until 1986. It was established as a venue for sports other than cricket and hosted the football codes, elite level athletics, motor sport, boxing, concerts and other events. In 1988, it was replaced by the original Sydney Football Stadium, a venue purpose built for the football codes and designed by celebrated Australian architect Philip Cox.&nbsp;&nbsp;
It closed in 2018 having hosted all manner of sporting and entertainment events from grand finals, FIFA World Cup qualifiers, rugby Tests, concerts by major international artists and even large-scale spectaculars such as Aida and Turandot.&nbsp;
Cox Architecture designed the original SFS’s replacement, which was opened in 2022 and delivered on time and under budget by the John Holland Group. In its first six months of operation, the new Allianz Stadium welcomed more than 700,000 people through the gates to sporting matches, concerts and community events.&nbsp;
The next major project is the delivery of the precinct village and carpark, which will establish new public plazas, green space and facilities, return the member tennis courts and a provide a 1500-space carpark adjacent to the stadium.&nbsp;

A community consultative committee operated throughout the construction of the new stadium. The committee’s membership was refreshed at the completion of construction and as the stadium moved into the operational phase. A new independent chair was appointed. The committee is a crucial forum with representatives from local organisations, unaligned local residents as well as our neighbouring councils, City of Sydney, Woollahra, Waverley and Randwick. Particpants are updated on stadium activities and discuss issues and any points of concern.&nbsp;
In accordance with condition B18 of the SSD 9835, Venues NSW sought the Planning Secretary’s approval to continue the CCC established for Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the SFS Redevelopment for the duration of the Precinct Village and Carpark construction works and for a least 12 months following the completion of construction or until the submission of the second Post Occupation Compliance Report is submitted (whichever is the sooner).&nbsp;
A Planning Modification (Modification 7) to Sydney Football Stadium (SFS) Redevelopment (SSD 9835) to incorporate the ‘Precinct Village and Car Park’ was approved by the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces on 18 July 2022.&nbsp;

Community

Venues NSW is seeking regulatory planning approval to increase the number of concerts that may be held at Allianz Stadium from an average of 4 to 20 per year.
This will take form in a modification application that will be prepared and submitted to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment for assessment, with the proposed changes set to make Sydney a more competitive, attractive destination for live events and boost the visitor economy by up to $120M, per year.
The proposal seeks to:
<ul>
 <li>Increase allowable number of concerts from an average of 4 to 20 per calendar year;</li>
 <li>Amend rehearsal finishing times and sound tests from 7pm to 10pm;</li>
 <li>Amend the maximum concert length from 5 hours to between 5 to 10 hours for two concerts per year; and</li>
 <li>Exemption to concert curfew to host the official Mardi Gras after party</li>
</ul>
No changes are proposed to the concert curfew (11pm) (other than Mardi Gras), maximum venue capacity (55,500 patrons), transport arrangements, or operational management plans.
If approved, Venues NSW will work closely with our sports partners to manage scheduling and ensure that everyone can co-exist throughout the October to March period each year.

Since opening in 2022, the new Allianz Stadium has established itself as one of Australia's top destinations for major sporting and entertainment events using the latest stadium technology and design that delivers an improved experience for everyone involved.
As we continue to recover from the disruption of COVID pandemic, increasing the concert capacity presents an invaluable opportunity to unlock and deliver far-reaching economic and social benefits for all NSW residents including:

Sound and noise control
To help mitigate noise and effectively manage noise impacts on our neighbours, Allianz Stadium uses modern, adaptive and purpose-built sound and noise control including:

 <li>In a world first, a real-time in-venue noise monitoring system has been installed to ensure noise levels do not exceed the approved maximum volume at surrounding residences</li>
 <li>Penetrations in the façade have been limited to better contain sound and light impacts</li>
 <li>Noise levels are calibrated during sound checks prior to an event to establish in-venue limits for each concert</li>
 <li>The new roof covers the entire seating bowl and is physically higher to better contain sound and light</li>
 <li>Concert speaker technology has improved, allowing for noise emissions to be monitored throughout concerts and real-time levels fed back to the sound stage to allow active management of noise</li>
 <li>Strict adherence to noise management plans</li>
</ul>
Traffic and transport management
Transport for all events including concerts is managed through a suite of measures. Comprehensive transport, operational and management plans were prepared and endorsed by Transport for NSW as part of the original redevelopment and will continue to be adhered to.
Venues NSW promotes active travel management to all its events and is committed to encouraging a cohesive environment and experience for all events by offering sustainable and accessible transportation options to the stadium including:

 <li>Integrated public transport ticketing for all events</li>
 <li>Active wayfinding signage and walking routes to and from the venue to encourage pedestrian circulation</li>
 <li>Secure bike parking and end of trip facilities for cyclists</li>
 <li>Approval for up to 1500 additional car spaces within the new Precinct Village, to be completed in 2025*</li>

TV AND RADIO FACILITIES 
The broadcast commentary positions are located within the Media Centre on level 3 of the western stand. There are three TV commentary boxes, one combined TV/Radio box, two radio boxes, and two TV hosting studios.&nbsp;&nbsp;
OB COMPOUND 
The OB compound is located externally to the venue at the north-west corner of the stadium. It features a dedicated area for OB vehicles, patch room, break room with kitchenette and toilet facilities.&nbsp;

The written press box is located within the Media Centre on level 3 of the western stand and features 39 positions each with dedicated power and data outlets. There is a kitchenette and dining area at the rear.&nbsp;&nbsp;
PHOTOGRAPHERS CENTRE 
The photographer’s room is located on the basement level, in the middle of the western side of the stadium. It features 40 positions, a kitchenette and locker facilities. Toilets are located adjacent to the room.&nbsp;&nbsp;
PRESS CONFERENCE ROOM 
The press conference room is located on the basement level, adjacent to the Gate 8 lift lobby. To access the press conference room after the game, media on level 3 should take the passenger or service lifts to Level 0.&nbsp;&nbsp;
MIXED ZONE 
A mixed zone may be installed for major events. Mixed Zones provide an opportunity for the press/broadcasters to conduct interviews with athletes as they leave the field of play or the venue. All athletes pass through the Mixed Zone however they are not obliged to answer questions or participate in interviews. Hirers may choose to use the Tunnel Club as a mixed zone. Hirers will communicate details to media prior to the match.&nbsp;&nbsp;
ACCESS TO DRESSING ROOMS 
Each sporting code has different restrictions regarding access to the change rooms. Club media managers will communicate access details prior to the conclusion of the event.&nbsp;&nbsp;
TV AND RADIO BROADCASTERS&nbsp;
ACCESS 
ALL accredited TV and radio broadcast personnel must enter the venue via the security check point located on the downramp in the north-west corner of the venue and present their event accreditation for scanning.&nbsp;&nbsp;
BROADCASTER REQUIREMENTS

INDUCTIONS 
Venues NSW requires all broadcast crews to complete an online induction prior to arrival onsite. This applies to crew working at Allianz Stadium on event days and non-event days. There is no cost to complete this online induction.&nbsp;&nbsp;

TV broadcasters organise their own catering for their crew and commentary team. This is served in the OB area. Hirers may select to provide individual drops for radio broadcasters or provide additional catering in the written press area. Media are permitted to purchase food and non-alcoholic beverages from the member and public areas and bring them into the media areas.&nbsp;

A stairwell and lift connecting Allianz Stadium to the SCG OB compound can be found in the south-west corner of the basement.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Photographers are required to wear an event-issued specific bib at most events. Hirers will be responsible for distribution and collection of the bibs.&nbsp;
FIELD ACCESS AND POSITIONS 
Photographers must always display the appropriate accreditation and the respective bib within the venue to assist security staff. Access to the field of play via the corner PAVs and positions onfield will be determined and communicated by the hirer. Photographer positions on the field differ across various sports. It is the hirer’s responsibility to brief photographers on areas where they may access and provide a map in the Photographers room for reference.&nbsp;
ON-FIELD POWER 
Power will be set out behind LED signage at the northern and southern ends for football (soccer) events as per A-League / FIFA guidelines. Photographers requiring power during play for other football codes may use the power outlets located around the field of play but away from high traffic areas.&nbsp;&nbsp;
STORAGE 
There is no permanent onsite storage. Photographers may use the lockers adjacent to the photographer’s room but must remove all equipment prior to departure each day. Any equipment left is at the owner’s risk and will be removed by Venues NSW.&nbsp;&nbsp;
CATERING 
The hirer will be responsible for the provision of photographer catering on event days. Media are permitted to purchase food and non-alcoholic beverages from the member and public areas and bring them into the media areas.&nbsp;
ROOF ACCESS 
Access to the roof gantry must be pre-arranged and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. A ‘Request for Permit’ will need to be completed before gantry access will be approved.&nbsp;
REMOTE CAMERAS 
Remote cameras may be affixed to the camera deck on level three of the western stand or the roof gantry. Photographers must ensure the remote camera is clamped securely to the rail. Any cameras left in this area are the responsibility of the photographer. Venues NSW takes no responsibility for any cameras damaged or stolen. Alternative locations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.&nbsp;&nbsp;
INDUCTIONS 
Venues NSW requires all photographers seeking to work at heights to complete an online induction prior to arrival onsite. This applies to photographers working at heights on event days and non-event days. There is no cost to complete the online induction.&nbsp;&nbsp;
GENERAL&nbsp;
ACCREDITATION&nbsp; 
Media must present the specific event-issued accreditation to Venues NSW staff for scanning. Media who do not have the correct accreditation will be directed to contact the hirer. Accreditation must be worn at all times. Hirers will communicate where to collect accreditation for their event and will assist with lost, forgotten or damaged passes.&nbsp;&nbsp;
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 
Allianz Stadium has its own Conditions of Entry which can be found at all entry gates into the venue as well as on the Allianz Stadium website. All media accessing Allianz Stadium must always abide by the Conditions of Entry. Anyone found to be in breach of the Allianz Stadium Conditions of Entry may be asked to leave the premises. In addition to the SFS Conditions of Entry, all hirers have their own Conditions of Entry which Venues NSW is engaged to enforce on event days. The hirer will issue these prior to the commencement of each season.&nbsp;&nbsp;
SECURITY CHECKS 
Access to the venue is subject to a bag check by Venues NSW security at the point of entry. Any media who refuse to these checks will not be permitted entry to the venue.&nbsp;&nbsp;
WI-FI 
Venues NSW provides a complimentary Wi-Fi network dedicated to the media which is available within the media areas and on the field of play. Information on how to connect to the Wi-Fi can be found on the noticeboards with the media facilities. Media should note that the password will be changed regularly, and they may need to ‘forget’ the Wi-Fi to enter the new password.&nbsp;&nbsp;
TRANSPORT 
The Allianz Stadium is well serviced by public transport on event and non-event days. Timetable information and a trip planner for bus, taxi, car and light rail can be found at <a href="https://transportnsw.info/">https://transportnsw.info</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;
PARKING&nbsp; 
There are several parking options near Allianz Stadium: 
Entertainment Quarter – access via Lang Road – normal fees apply&nbsp; 
EP2 (north) and EP3 (south) – access via Driver Avenue, operated by Centennial Parklands. Opening hours are limited and set around gate opening times&nbsp; 
Moore Park Road – clearways apply&nbsp;
DRESS REGULATIONS 
Dress regulations are in place for all events at Allianz Stadium, unless otherwise advised by Venues NSW. All patrons must adhere to the dress regulations. Dress regulations are detailed on Allianz Stadium website.
SMOKING 
Smoking and use of e-cigarettes and vaping are banned in all enclosed public areas and certain outdoor public areas, including the Allianz Stadium precinct, under the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000 and the Smoke-free Environment Regulation 2016. These bans protect people from harmful second-hand tobacco smoke. There is no safe level of exposure to second-hand smoke. Offenders smoking inside the grounds will be issued with an infringement notice and fined under the relevant by laws.&nbsp;&nbsp;
FIRST AID / MEDICAL 
First Aid and medical assistance is available on all match days. In the event of medical emergency, please contact the nearest customer service officer. The First Aid Room is located in the basement in the south-west corner.&nbsp;&nbsp;
CHILDREN AND FRIENDS OF MEDIA 
Children and friends of media will not be permitted entry to any media facilities, including filing and catering areas, unless approved by the hirer.&nbsp;&nbsp;
BEHAVIOUR 
Media are asked to respect their fellow colleagues who may be meeting different deadlines. Media are not permitted to bring alcoholic drinks in the media areas or stand in aisles.&nbsp;&nbsp;
PRAYER ROOM 
A Prayer Room is located on level one (1) in the south-east corner of the concourse.&nbsp;
EVACUATION 
The Allianz Stadium has an emergency notification system on every floor. In the event of an emergency, a voice alarm will be activated and will instruct you on how to respond to the situation. If you are instructed to evacuate the building, please leave all personal belongings behind and move as quickly as possible to the nearest emergency exit.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
